Central Catholic High School

Christine Wehnes

Distinguished Faculty Award

A native of Massachusetts, Mrs. Wehnes completed her undergraduate studies, in English education, at Florida International University. Then, after a brief stay in Atlanta, she headed to Cleveland where she began teaching, full time, at the high school level while earning a master’s

degree in education from John Carroll University. Then, after raising two children – the joys of her life – Mrs. Wehnes returned to South Florida and joined the faculty of Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory. At CMCP she has taught World History, Newspaper Journalism, Yearbook Journalism, Graphic Design, Computer Applications, and Life Management. However, since her passion is literature and writing, most of her energies have gone into teaching a variety of English Department courses. Outside of the classroom Mrs. Wehnes has published, with the help of many talented students, 38 yearbooks and numerous issues of CMCP’s Lion’s Print

newspaper. Currently, she chairs the English Department, serves as Senior Class moderator, supervises the National English Honor Society and oversees publication of the Lion’s Pride Yearbook.
